Dog Social Walk: Thorndon Country Park (February Recap)

Dog Social Walk Essex: February Thorndon Recap (In Torrential Rain) | HPDT

If you’re searching for a dog social walk in Essex that feels friendly, supportive, and genuinely enjoyable (for humans and dogs), this one was a proper reminder of what our community is all about. ☔🐾

When I woke up and heard the rain hammering down, I honestly thought it was going to be just Bear and me out there.

So seeing you lot turn up anyway, ready to brave the weather, genuinely made my morning. Let it never be said the owners I work with are fair weather dog walkers. 💪🐶

Thank you for showing up (and making it a brilliant walk)

Despite the downpour, it turned into one of those walks you come home from feeling a bit more human again. The dogs had puddles to investigate, mud to celebrate, and plenty of moments to potter along together like they’d planned it all. 😅

We stayed mostly on hard track, so it didn’t become a total swamp… but yes, the dogs still managed to get muddy, because of course they did. Bear certainly looked like he’d had the best day out of everyone. 🐾✨

Why we do HPDT social walks

These walks are community first. A chance to catch up, have a laugh, and enjoy a shared experience with people who get it.

And as a bonus, they’re a lovely way to practise real-life dog training skills in a natural setting, without it feeling like “training”. Things like staying connected, responding to cues, and learning that being around other dogs does not always mean “go say hello”.

Quick reminder: these walks are strictly for HPDT clients (past and present) who have completed or are currently on our face-to-face Puppy and/or High School course, and they’re not suitable for dogs with any reactive behaviour.

If you’re eligible and fancy coming along, the next one is here: March HPDT Social Walk.

Hopefully, by then, it will have stopped raining… because it genuinely feels like the UK has had rain every day for the last month. 🌧️😅

Lots of love,
Heath & Bear x 🐶🐾
