This one took place at Warlies Estate near Waltham Abbey, and honestly, the bluebells were showing off. Add in a lovely group of dogs, a relaxed atmosphere, and some very happy owners, and it turned into one of those walks that reminds you why community matters so much.
You’ll spot a few familiar faces and breeds in the video too, including a Golden Retriever, Labrador, French Bulldog, Weimaraner, Corgi, and a few others along the way. 👀
A proper little glimpse of what our social walks are like
These walks are a lovely chance for dogs to spend time around others in a calm, structured way, without everything tipping into chaos or turning into a free-for-all.
That matters, because when people say their dog “needs socialisation”, what they often really need is more opportunities like this. Real-life exposure. Space to walk together. Time to settle. Time to sniff. Time to simply exist around other dogs without pressure.
For the humans, it’s also just really nice. A chance to catch up, enjoy the surroundings, and spend time with people who get it. Dog people, lovely dogs, bluebells out, everyone pretending they’re only there for the training and not because it’s actually a really nice morning out. 😅
Why we do HPDT social walks
Our social walks are part of the ongoing support and continuing development we offer to clients who come through our classes.
They are not about throwing a load of dogs together and hoping for the best. They are about giving dogs the chance to enjoy being outdoors around other dogs while practising useful real-life skills, such as staying connected to their person, walking calmly as part of a group, and learning that being near dogs does not always mean charging over for a hello.
It is a gentle way to build confidence, reinforce good habits, and help owners feel more comfortable handling their dogs out in the real world too.
Quick reminder: these walks are strictly for HPDT clients who have completed or are currently on our face-to-face Puppy and/or High School course, and they are not suitable for dogs with any reactive behaviour.
